Residency Week 2021 Is Days Away

Our 2020-21 cohort of Resident Artists, Coffee Kang, Emmet Prieto Webster, and gabbah baya have worked unbelievably hard over the course of their residency on three dynamic shows that speak directly to the heart of Level Ground’s commitment to experimental art, and next week July 30th-August 8 2021 their shows – Return by gabbah baya, Sometimes Soft, Sometimes Solid by Coffee Kang, Zero Parecer by Emmett Prieto Webster will be opening in that order across Los Angeles during Residency Week!

gabbah baya’s RETURN uses experimental game design to preserve and decontextualize Palestinian locations, buildings, and artifacts, and opens at Feminist AI + poieto on Friday, July 30th from 6-10pm.

Coffee Kang’s Sometimes Soft, Sometimes Solid is an imaginative space she created using soap to examine the fragility of our concept of home, and opens at Launch La on Saturday, July 31st from 4-8pm.

Emmet Prieto Webster’s Zero Parecer uses popular telenovela Rebelde as a lens with which to explore Mexican-American teenhood, and opens at Noysky Projects on Sunday, August 1st from 2-6pm

Along with opening night events for these three brilliant shows, visitors can register for hourly viewing slots for each show throughout the week, and we’ll also be hosting a Closing Party on August 7th hosted by Oracle Cafe from 8-10pm to dance, socialize and celebrate the accomplishments of our Resident Artists, and an Artist talk ( via zoom!) on August 8th from 12-2pm to learn more about the artists and their work.
