Calling Black artists, futurists, healers, conjurers, and abolitionists of any and all mediums! The 2020 SKEW curatorial team invites you to submit your work for publication in our annual print magazine or on our forthcoming SKEW digital hub. We encourage you to submit work that speaks to this year’s curatorial theme, “Black Dreams, Futures, & Mutual Support.”

This year SKEW is expanding to include a printed publication and a digital hub for online healing and other interactive spaces. The curatorial team is looking for submissions spanning diverse mediums including: essays, poetry, photography, sound healing, moving images, videos, visual art, illustrations, performance art, and more. Read on for details.

The regular deadline to submit is September 4 and the late deadline is September 9. For this issue, we are adopting a model of cooperative ownership, shared between the issue’s curators, designer, and contributors. We will compensate all accepted artists with a small stipend, as well as a portion of the magazine sales.

ABOUT SKEW MAGAZINE

SKEW is an experimental art and dialogue magazine produced annually by Level Ground. From poetry to artwork to photography to essays and more, SKEW features exciting, thought-provoking new work from members of the Level Ground Collective and other artists selected by each issue’s curatorial team.

SKEW began in 2018 as a digital monthly zine/blog conceived and led by Collective artist Donald Scherschligt. Last year, we launched the inaugural print edition of SKEW at the opening night party of our seventh annual Festival. Click here to explore last year’s issue and buy a copy!
