We are living in the midst of seemingly insurmountable division that feels so big we don’t even know how to approach it. One Small Thing is a podcast that reveals the power of a rather simple maxim: it’s hard to care about someone you don’t know.

About the Show

One Small Thing is a documentary podcast that takes you into an unexpected story of forgiveness, hope and transcendence of the human spirit. The series explores stories about making a difference when no one expects anything from you and the unexpected ripple effects when you connect with someone different from you. The first season focuses on a group of eighth graders from a rural, southern town where no Jewish person had ever lived, who set out to study the Holocaust and the dangers of prejudice. What happened next was a miracle.

The show will inspire and connect people across their differences by sparking critical conversations and offering a new model for empathy and cultural exchange. Our goal is to encourage listeners to reach out and connect with someone unlike themselves; to find one small thing they can do to make a difference.
