The Type of Illness No One Wants To Talk About
In October of last year I was diagnosed with PTSD, depression, and a severe anxiety disorder. I was hospitalized and immediately put on a large cocktail of drugs to manage my mental illness.
Before I was officially diagnosed I was barely making it through each day. Eventually I had a psychotic break and found myself in a psychiatrist’s office, and then eventually in a hospital bed. Now I take medicine daily, go to therapy and use my other coping skills to keep myself alive, moving, and above water. I am so much happier and living a much more fulfilling life now that my illness is being treated. But happy isn’t the only thing I’ve been feeling.
