SKEW Magazine
SKEW Magazine is an annual Black art and dialogue print publication with an accompanying digital hub that is cooperatively owned by the curators and artists featured in each issue. From poetry to artwork, photography, essays and more, SKEW features exciting, new, thought-provoking work from Black artists across the Diaspora.
Reneice Charles is the Level Ground Staff artist currently running SKEW Magazine as its Editor-in-Chief. A new team of curators is hired to bring each issue to life.

Terrell Brooke
SKEW 02 Curator
Interdisciplinary artist and DJ Terrell Brooke works with body movement, sound experimentation, & vocal exercise to explore BIPOC queer feminist theory. Their rhythmic multi-genre sets seek to explore notions of resilience, femme embodiment and amplify queer narratives.
Nneka Jackson
SKEW 03 Editor-in-Chief
Nneka Jackson is a creative writer, poet, and entertainment attorney with a focus on artist development and licensing. With over fifteen years of writing experience, she has published work across several different platforms including on Contemporary Art Review Los Angeles, gal-dem, SKEW and NIKE ACG. She is based between Kingston, Jamaica and Los Angeles.
Reneice Charles
SKEW 04 Editor-in-Chief
Reneice Charles is a writer, recipe developer, and food photographer exploring the intersections of race, sexuality, food and body politic in Los Angeles, CA. She is the current Editor-in Chief of SKEW Magazine. Publications include Autostraddle.com, where she authored the popular baking column Femme Brulee, Visit California, Outside Magazine, and Active Cultures. Reneice has a multi-hyphenate career and is also Director of Communications Level Ground, a plus-size model, outdoor enthusiast, and body liberation advocate. Bri Stokes
SKEW 04 Managing Editor
Bri Stokes is a writer, poet, producer, curator and editor who hails from South Central Los Angeles. Her writing often explores themes of identity, vulnerability, love, grief and mysticism. She served as Assistant Art Editor for the London-based Hecate Magazine, and as Poetry Editor for the literary magazine, Storyteller’s Refrain. Her writing has been featured in various publications, such as BuzzFeed, Visual Verse and The Myriad. In her spare time, Bri enjoys painting, stargazing, night driving and collecting decks of tarot cards. She is currently studying journalism at UCLA.
Leslie Foster

As an artist, I've spent a little over ten years using experimental film and installation art to create spaces that explore Black and queer futurity through the lens of dream logic. You can often find me daydreaming about running away with a band of nomadic, seafaring artists.
Salima Allen
SKEW 04 Curator
Salima Allen is a multimedia artist and founder of LA based photo studio, Acid Smiles Studios. Her personal practice revolves around photography, color, and obsession. Find her styling sets & wardrobe in front of the camera, and amplifying underrepresented stories behind the camera.
Nikki Pressley
SKEW Designer
Nikki (she/her) is a designer, visual artist and farmer. Based in North Carolina, she is working alongside BIPOC farmers in the region and moving into new areas of overlap in her advocacy and creative practices. As a designer, she partners with a variety of organizations to bring life to their visual communications.
